Why do I have to do this?
ARC's accreditation as an institution of higher learning requires every discipline to complete and document a thorough review of their program. This is how ARC addresses this requirement.
Does every faculty member in the discipline have to participate in completing the Program Review?
While universal participation is not a legal requirement, we have found that the more complete the faculty participation, the more comprehensive and effective the program review process tends to be.
Do I have to complete the entire document?
What happens if there are some parts of the document that do not apply to my program? Do I still have to complete them?
If you believe this to be true, check with the Research Office to confirm that you are correct. If, after confirming with the Research Office it is evident that a portion of the Program Review Template does not apply to your program, then you will be required to explain why it didn't apply in your document.
Do I have to conduct a survey to collect data to complete the Program Review?
No, this is not required. However, a survey of students and staff can provide a rich source of information that will help you more fully evaluate your program.
If I need to obtain data from outside of the college (e.g., employer data, industry standards, etc.) how do I obtain it?
There are many ways to obtain these data. The Research Office can help you identify whether or not there is a source for these data and if so, where to get it. Should you need to design or administer a survey to collect such data, the Research Office can help you with that, also. Visit our Surveys page for more information.
What happens if I lose my data?
You are responsible for maintaining all documents and data for your program review. However, in the unlikely event that you should lose your data, contact the Research Office and a new copy will be provided to you.
Who do I contact for department's WSCH?

What happens if my department does not complete a Program Review?

Why is Program Review beneficial to my department?
The program review process provides a structured way for college programs and disciplines to carefully evaluate how they are doing. Such a process often helps to identify things that the discipline is doing very well in addition to helping to identify areas and strategies for improvement.
Where do I get my department's current goals and objectives if I do not have a copy of them?
Where do I get my department's last EMP reports if I don't have a copy of them?
Where do I get my department's last Program Review document if I don't have a copy of them?
If you cannot find your last program review on our web page, first check with your Area Dean. If he or she does not have a copy, contact Lee Theil. He maintains copies of each disciplines program review (as long as it was actually submitted to him).
Who looks at program review documents and how are they used?
Your discipline's Program Review document is used to help your department evaluate what is working well and identify areas for improvement. In addition, the information contained in your Program Review is used in supportive documentation for accreditation, grant applications, the educational master plan and other college-wide evaluation processes.
Why do I have to present a summary of my program review once it is completed and who will attend this presentation?
This allows you to showcase your department's accomplishments and strategies that you are using to address issues that arise in the ever changing academic and occupational environment. The presentation is typically attended by Area Deans, ARC Research Office Staff, Lee Theil, Academic Senate President, Dean of Planning Research and Development, the other department's who also participated in the current cycle of Program Review as well as other interested individuals.
